Pouteria spp "Translúcida" - GERMINATED
This is a new Pouteria discovered this year in Brazil. The tree grows roughly 8-10 feet tall, and fruits in abundance. The fruit has a rough brown EDIBLE skin, that grows in clusters. The skin on this fruit is edible, having a soft, jelly like texture. There is also flesh surrounding the seed, that is totally translucent. In the photos, you can see a layer around each seed. The skin and flesh around the seed, both taste the same, they are sweet, with a “nectar” flavor. They are enjoyed out of hand by the locals. This was discovered in the Amazonia Legal in Maranhao estate west in Brazil. This is the first time this seed has been exported out of Brazil to our knowledge. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite. These seeds are germinating and super viable. I have included photos of the seeds whole and some cut to show their freshness.
