About Us
We are a young couple located in South Central Kentucky, Zone 6B. One is a full time nurse, the other an Engineer. We are addicted to collecting the worlds most rare and unique tropical fruiting trees. We also enjoy homesteading and working in our 5 year old backyard food forest.
What We Do
We grow thousands of the most rare and endangered plant species in the world. Some look at our grow zone (6B) and think how is this possible when all of these plants require a minimum zone 9 environment? Well for years these were stored in my house during the winter, and as the collection grew so did we. After literally living in a jungle for 4 months out of the year for four years, I took the plunge and restored a 120x50ft Greenhouse that my family used to farm tobacco. There are three other greenhouses located on the farm we can fire up at a moments notice if need be. Now, with no limitations, we can now grow any plant year around here in Kentucky. The biggest collectors of these rare fruit trees are predominantly located in zones where these plants thrive (Florida, Hawaii, California, Texas, etc.). Our goal is to show everyone that in todays age, you can grow anything, anywhere, anytime. When I first started I killed many of my plants trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. In the future we plan to create a blog here on BellamyTrees.com that shows everyone in the country, north of zone 9, how you can successfully grow these plants in a container, and successfully grow them during a northern winter. Below you will see some photos of a harvested Lemon in January, and a small section of my in-door set up I used for years during the winter.
