It is occasionally cultivated in domestic orchards for the fruit; can be grown as a pioneer when restoring native woodlands or establishing woodland gardens; and, since it provides a good shade, it can be grown as an ornamental for use in landscaping. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
