Eugenia Francavilleana - GERMINATED
Seeds were imported from Brazil. Eugenia francavilleana is an evergreen shrub or small tree with a dense, pyramidal crown when young, becoming more open and globose in older trees, growing 4 - 6 metres tall. The straight and more or less cylindrical bole can be 20 - 30cm in diameter. The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. It can be used as a pioneer species when restoring native woodland or establishing woodland gardens and, with its elegant crown, it can be used for landscaping. The fruit is fleshy, with sweetish tasting pulp. Red to black, globose to pear-shaped fruit is around 15mm in diameter.
