Anacardium Humilis
Seeds were imported from Brazil. This is a very rare plant found in the Cerrado. It can reach about 80 cm in height. It is characterized by having several erect branches on the base of a developed xylopodium (underground stem). It has ovate-lanceolate leaves. The flowers can be white, pink, or yellow, with purple veins at the base. The fruit is a true kidney-shaped gray nut. It does, however, have a pseudo (like cashew), red and clavate, with white, juicy flesh. Both the fruit and the pseudo are edible, although the fruit has high acidity. It is consumed fresh when ripe, used to make liqueurs, juices and cakes.
