This is a specie endemic to Colombia, specifically to Sibundoy and its surroundings, and generally resides in cloud forests, between 1,400 and 2,300 meters elevation. It is also known as wild tomato to the natives of Colombia, and is also sometimes called Cyphomandra sibundoyensis. It is a small tree 4 to 8 m tall. Stems glabrous or sparsely puberulent with glandular and eglandular hairs less than 0.5 mm long. The fruit is yellow when ripe and fuchsia around the seeds. The juice of this fruit is much better than Solanum betaceum. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
