Seeds were imported from Brazil. CAMBUÍ TINGA comes from Tupi Guarani and means “Little white fruit that grows on a thin branch”. Also called white pitanga or white cherry. This is a rare species described so far for MINAS GERAIS, BAHIA and other northeastern states. Small understory tree that reaches 2 to 3 meters in height, with dense, downward-arching branches. The trunk is straight, short and smooth, 8 to 20 cm in diameter, with cream bark, peeling longitudinally, and whitish underneath. The leaves are simple, opposite and glabrous (hairless) with a petiole or stem 2 to 3 mm long. Fruits from January to March. The fruits, despite being small, can be consumed fresh and highly appreciated. The ripe fruits are very sweet and can be eaten with the skin and all. They can also be pulped by hitting the blender and straining with a sieve and the pulp used to make juices (which tastes like atemoya), ice cream and jellies. The flowers are beekeeping and the tree is ornamental and can be successfully cultivated in gardening and urban afforestation. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
