Small tree, reaching3 to6 m high, open and irregular crown with 2.5 to 3.5m in diameter, with multiple trunks with thin bark coming off in small greyish-yellow flakes. This species is easily identified by having new quadrangular branches with small wings or edges. Fruits from June to August. The fruits can be consumed fresh despite having an acidic taste, they are very similar to the taste and smell of pineapple. The best way to consume the fruits is in the form of juice, which is delicious and looks like juice was made by mixing araçá with pineapple. They are also used to produce great ice creams and jellies. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
