Myrciaria sp. Canelada - GERMINATED
Seeds were imported from Brazil and will arrive to you germinated. This is an impressive specie of Myrciaria with a branched trunk, in 2 shades of red (dark and light), twisted and endowed with shanks and furrows, analogous to the Fabaceae known as tataré (Chloroleucon tortum), the latter popularized by Roberto Burle Marx. This is often used in the landscaping, and currently widely used in bonsai. Its fruits are small (a little more than 1 cm) and multicolored (changing from green to orange, red and finally dark purple as they mature). They are juicy and pleasantly bittersweet, with a firm skin and a single seed. The plant is a small tree (3-4 m high), with a smooth trunk. The fruits are tasty and can be consumed raw, in addition to being used in the preparation of juices and jellies. They provide a great infusion in brandy, and attract many birds. The tree features a vibrantly colored branching trunk and sculptural form, and is enthusiastically recommended for landscaping and bonsai. The cambuí-de-trunco-canelado should be cultivated in partial shade (it can be tested in full sun), in well-drained soils. It bears fruit once or twice a year, providing fresh fruit in abundance. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
