Eugenia sp Batingão
This species was imported as seed from Brazil. This is a rare unique Eugenia species found recently in Una Bahia Brazil. It was found growing sandy clay soil at a height of 18 meters or 59-60 feet. This can be a huge tree if planted straight in the ground, however it should also do well in a container, or kept shorter in the ground if pruned. A lot of species from this region of Brazil do well if they are container grown and also do well if pruned in the ground to be kept at a more manageable size. This specie produces a phenomenal fruit. The species produces in abundance, and the fruits are very large for the genus, around the size of a baseball. The fruits are slightly smaller than a golf ball. It is roughly 70/30 on flesh to seed. The fruit is round, shiny, smooth, and green when full ripe. The skin is beautiful, but also astringent, so it is not recommended for eating out of hand. The flesh on the other hand, is amazing.. The flesh is bright yellow, firm, slightly juicy, and very sweet. It has a great flavor, and unlike most species in this genus, this specie has tons and tons of flesh to enjoy per fruit. It only contains one seed. Seeds have been tested, and are viable. Will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
