It also occurs in Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay. Shrub or tree measuring 2 to 5 meters, with a cylindrical, globose crown and semi-evergreen foliage, the stem is short and cylindrical, with olive bark when young, turning greyish-brown, with a rough to wrinkled texture when the tree gets older. The fruits have pulp rich in antioxidants and pectin and can be consumed fresh or pulped under a sieve and the pulp used for juices, frizzes, jellies or ice cream. Those who have tried the fruit report they are small, but very juicy and sweet, with a flavor similar to raisins, with an earthy aftertaste. We found a Brix test online of this specie, and these ranged from 15-20 Brix. Seeds are viable and will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
