Duguetia Furfuracea
Seeds were imported directly from Brazil. It is a small shrub that grows to 1.5 m (5 ft) tall, branching from the base, with simple, velvety leaves and reddish pink flowers followed by round, orange green to brown. The fruits taste pleasant, with a sweet flavor, somewhat reminiscent of coconuts. The pulp is succulent, very tasty, and has a nice pleasant subtle aroma. The fruit is around 10cm long x 7cm wide. Duguetia furfuracea grows in Brazil from low elevations to 1300 m (4300 ft). In cultivation it is best suited to drier, tropical and warm temperate climates. The fruits keep and transport well. I am going to try source more of these, but for now I only have a few available. If I am able to source more, I hope have them available at a cheaper price. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
