It is native to the Atlantic forest with deep soils and the semi-deciduous high-altitude forest with a very irregular distribution; appearing mainly in the state of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná and southern Bahia, Brazil. Large tree reaching 8 to 25 meters in the native forest, when grown in full sun it does not exceed 7 m in height. The fruit has fine, fragrant pulp and good flavor, and can be consumed fresh or as soon as it is harvested ripe from the tree. If you harvest and spend many hours, the pulp oxidizes and darkens, making it bitter for consumption. In this situation, the pulp is removed to use the seed or nut in culinary dishes in the same way as nutmeg, however, this species has a more delicate and slightly sweet flavor, making any dish prepared with it spectacular. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
