Flowers ca. 7 mm diameter, green-white, placed in bundles in leaf axils. Fruits ca. 26 mm diameter, green to yellow to pink to purple, fleshy berries, seeds with white aril. In undisturbed swamp, keranga, mixed dipterocarp and sub-montane forests up to 1000 m altitude. Mostly on alluvial sites with sandy soils. In secondary forests usually present as a pre-disturbance remnant tree. In Borneo thisi s called Kandis, Kandis hutan, Kapab, Perdah, Sapob, Serangan paya, Sikop bingkang, Tampoi locally. Seeds are shipped in humid vermiculite.
