Pouteria Macrophylla var "Gigante" - Cutite

Seeds were imported from Brazil. Cutite is a semi-deciduous tree with an elongate crown. It grows 10 - 25 meters tall with a straight, cylindrical 20 - 45cm in diameter. The tree is valued for its edible fruit which is both gathered from the wild and also often cultivated. Trees in the forest are often there because of semi-cultivation by the local people. The fruits are sold in local markets. The fruits contain 1 - 2 seeds surrounded by a thick layer of starchy, slightly sweet pulp. The fruits are usually 6cm long and 4cm in diameter, however this special cultivar produces fruits up to 8-10cm in diameter! Almost double the size of normal. These were collected and sourced from the great e-Jardim in Brazil, one of if not the most credible Brazilian collectors and sources. Seeds are germinating, and will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
