Posoqueria Latifolia - Needle Flower Tree - GERMINATED

Seeds were imported from Colombia. Needle flower tree is an evergreen shrub or small tree growing 6 - 15 meters tall. The edible fruit is appreciated by some - it is gathered from the wild and consumed locally. The tree is occasionally cultivated in Panama in house-gardens for its fruit. It is also often grown as an ornamental, being valued especially for its remarkable and very fragrant blooms which can be carried in great profusion. This tree produces an edible sweet, fleshy, juicy, yellow fruit, around 5cm in diameter. The flowers are also used to repel fleas when dehydrated and turned into a powder. Also,. the bark contains a blood-clotting agent and is used in the Amazon to treat wounds caused by poison arrows. This is a very cool specie to have in the collection. Seeds are viable, yellow, and somewhat translucent. They will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
