Nephelium Maingayi

Seeds were imported directly from Indonesia. Nephelium maingayi is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 40 meters tall. The straight, cylindrical bole can be up to 90cm in diameter, sometimes with buttresses up to 140cm high. The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of wood. The fruit is edible. The fruit is a more-or-less flattened-ellipsoid, 20 - 27mm long, 12 - 18mm wide and 10 - 12mm thick. Although the species is occasionally cultivated, the fruits are mainly collected from the forest and sold in rural markets. The fruits are said to taste sweet and have a similar to flavor of Rambutan. Seeds are viable and will be shipped in substrate.
