Manilkara Salzmannii - Black Massaranduba

Seeds were imported from Brazil. Black massaranduba is an evergreen tree with a large, roundish crown. It grows from 10 - 25 meters tall with a straight, cylindrical bole 40 - 70cm in diameter. The plant produces a berry containing 1- 2 hard seeds enclosed in a sweet, succulent pulp. This is a very rare specie, found rarely in the wild. Those that have tasted the fruit loved it, it is usually only consumed out of hand The fruit is 3cm in diameter. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
