Garcinia Mangosteen var Mesta

Seeds were imported from Indonesia. This is a rare Garcinia that is different from the regular mangosteen because the fruits have a much darker skin, and are often almost seedless. They also have a firmer, and crunchier flesh that explodes when bitten into. The flesh has a very sweet, sour, and flowery mangosteen flavor. The rare mangosteen variety 'mesta' typically only has 2 to 3 hard seeds per fruit. The two varieties of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) cultivated in Malaysia are known as Manggis and Mesta. The latter is preferred for its flavor, texture, and relative seedlessness. A simple search of garcinia mangosteen mesta on the internet will show many articles, forum posts, and videos of this cultivar. Seeds are viable, and will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
