Monkey jackfruit is a tall, evergreen tree that can grow up to a height of 45 meters. The straight, cylindrical bole can be up to 90cm in diameter, with buttresses up to 300cm high. The tree is commonly harvested from the wild for local use as a food and source of materials. The wood is harvested commercially as a source of keledang timber, and the tree is occasionally cultivated for its edible fruit, especially in Malaysia and Indonesia. The roundish fruit has a pleasant flavor. The sweet orange flesh is usually eaten raw. It is sweet and juicy. The fruit is usually up to 7cm in diameter, but can be up to 13cm. Seeds will be shipped in humid vermiculite.
